Farmers' Social Insurance Institution

The Farmers' Social Insurance Institution Mela handles the social insurance of Finnish farmers. Our clients include all farmers, fishers and reindeer farmers.

Mela's activities cover farmers' employment pension, employment accident insurance and early retirement aid and farm relief. These statutory services are handled centrally by Mela. Mela also provides farmers' voluntary leisure-time accident insurance and group life assurance.

The Farmer's Social Insurance Institution Mela is also responsible for the statutory pension and employment accident insurance of the persons who have a grant or a scholarship and who have to be insured in Finland as of the beginning of 2009.
